Yesterday, the Primary had an activity at the Temple. First, we met for a tour around the Temple grounds. It was really neat to learn some of the details behind the design of the building and the features on the grounds. We learned that President Hinckley gave some pine trees to be planted on the grounds, so there are two tall pines trees in the back they call the Hinckley Trees. My other favorite tidbit of information was that the Angel Moroni had actually been struck by lightening 3 times before they added several long skinny pieces of metal around the top of the building, as well as on the top of Moroni's head, to channel any lightening currents there instead. There are also designs in the stained glass, where if you look close enough, you can see the outline of the Savior with outstretched arms, or an angel, etc... (kind of like when you look at the sky and see clouds forming objects...) Anyway, it was really interesting and makes me appreciate all of the inspiration that was received to make every detail significant.
Jadan was so excited for this activity and was talking about it for at least a week before. He would ask, "how many more days til we get to go to the temple?" just about every day. This was the first time we have taken the kids to the Temple, so the only time they had seen the Temple was in the photos we have at our house. So, it was really neat when we pulled up to the Temple and they all saw the Angel Moroni way up in the sky and were just squealing with excitement, "look Mom, Angel Moroni!!! We're here, we're at the Temple!!!"
My two handsome little guys!!!
Shae almost fell into the fountain!
This is probably my favorite family picture. Sister Allred was taking the picture and she and her daughter tried every funny noise and face to get some smiles! It worked...Shae and I are just cracking up, too! Thanks so much- this is definitely a keeper!!
